You Can Find Me
Researching and studying new ways to help clients, writing blogs, making dinner for my husband, meeting with others to learn how to grow my private practice, traveling the world, and shopping for new clothes & self-care products.
Daily Rituals
Devotional/journaling time, Iced coffee from The Beanery, cuddles with my two dogs, classes on my Peloton Tread, and cleaning/tidying the house so I can enjoy winding down at night with husband watching pointless reality tv shows.
FAQs
"I don't need therapy my kid does."
Children (including teens) are still part of a family system and are treated as such. You should be willing to attend some sessions and make changes yourself if you want your child to succeed as well.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Life happens really fast, sometimes. If something comes up and you need to reschedule, that’s no problem. Just give us a call at least 48 hours in advance for any cancellations or rescheduling, and we can make it happen.
We get that it’s not always possible to see a crisis coming. If something emergent arises, let us know; we can discuss our next move. Please take into consideration that I reserve your scheduled time exclusively for you, and if you can’t be there, we need to re-open that opportunity for someone else who needs our services. Communication about cancellations is really important.
Repeat cancellations will result in being discharged; I will provide you with referrals at that time.
Do you tell parents what their children say during therapy?
If you’re minor, you do have rights to confidentiality. This will be broken if you share that you want to hurt yourself or someone else, you have been abused, or you have abused someone else.
My initial goal with you as a minor is to coach you on how to share things with their parents/guardians.
If you do not want to, then I will share the necessary information with them and will tell you I’m doing this before the conversation happens. I will often give parents a bullet point summary of what is being worked on, as long as it is deemed appropriate for the minor’s wellbeing and growth.
What do you do in a session?
Some say magic, but I wouldn’t say I have that much power!
I take an explorative approach; I try to maintain dialogue and challenge clients to think about things they likely have never thought of previously.
At times I will ask clients to write things down, engage in exercises (always with permission and never forced), or conduct meditations and grounding activities to help you regroup.
Where are you located?
What are your office hours?
Fridays: 9am-12pm
Saturdays: 9am-12pm (by appointment only)
How do I set up an intial session?
Contact me at (402) 800-0801, and we can set up a time for a quick phone consultation. Or email me at westocounseling@gmail.com.
This call will allow you to introduce yourself, ask me any questions to see if I am the right therapist for you, and set a date for your first real session. It’s all very exciting!
Do you take insurance?
While I am in-network with many insurance companies, I no longer file claims with them. Sessions are paid for by clients as services are rendered, and clients are then sent monthly super-bills that they can submit to their insurance company to get reimbursed directly. Please ask more about this in your consultation call.
