EDMR Sessions
Unlock Healing with EMDR Therapy
The client accesses and addresses emotionally disturbing events or experiences in stages, while simultaneously focusing on an external stimulus. This external stimulus can be therapist directed bi-lateral eye movements or other stimuli including hand-tapping and/or vibrating ‘tappers’ (Shapiro, 1991).
It is important to note that the client is conscious and fully in charge during EMDR and can ask the clinician to pause or stop at any time.
EMDR therapy offers a new perspective on emotional well-being, emphasizing the mind’s resilience and its ability to overcome psychological challenges.
For example, when you cut yourself, your body works to close the wound as it heals. If something irritates it, like oil or dirt, or continues to injure and reopen the cut, it can fester, often causing more pain. If the cut is properly cared for, healing often takes place quite quickly.
EMDR therapy is similar in that it helps to remove those things that are causing more pain, allowing one to finally emotionally heal.
Some of the studies show that 84%-90% of single-trauma victims no longer have post-traumatic stress disorder after only three 90-minute sessions (EMDR Institute, Inc, 2020).
